An introduction

I am a commercial disputes barrister with more than 15 years’ experience in litigation and dispute resolution. I am solutions-focused, realistic and pragmatic, and aim to quickly identify the issues of substance and the most effective way of resolving them.

In the 2026 Legal 500 directory, I am described as ‘very personable and take a pragmatic and commercial approach to problems… (and) mix the right level of commerciality with legal clout.’

I commenced practice as a barrister sole in August 2026. Prior to joining the independent Bar, I was a partner in the litigation team at Anthony Harper. Before Anthony Harper, I practised at another leading commercial law firm in New Zealand and worked in-house at a major retail and commercial bank in London.

I have acted for clients across a wide range of industries and sectors and have appeared in the District Court, High Court, Court of Appeal, Employment Relations Authority, and Employment Court.

My experience includes complex commercial disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, cross-border matters, breach of confidence claims, and regulatory and remediation matters in the financial services sector.

I have significant experience in urgent and interlocutory proceedings, including applying for and obtaining freezing orders, search orders, restraint of trade and confidentiality injunctions. I am accustomed to working under significant time pressure with clients to identify the critical issues, assemble the necessary evidence and develop an effective strategy for urgent applications.

I have particular experience in complex litigation involving substantial volumes of documents and electronic evidence. I have advised on discovery strategy, technology-assisted review and the use of eDiscovery technology in large and complex proceedings. Accordingly, I understand the importance of considering evidential and discovery issues in the context of both the substantive dispute and the practical demands of litigation.

My time working in-house gives me a strong appreciation of the commercial realities in which legal disputes arise. I worked closely with senior stakeholders and understand the importance of legal advice being practical and commercially focused.

I also have experience and interest in sports law. I have acted for high-profile professional rugby players, including All Blacks, including advising on national sporting contracts and representing players in disputes. I have also served on sporting disciplinary committees.
